How to Cook

Simple to cook. Hard to mess up.

Stovetop

1

Rinse

Rinse 1 cup of Adlai under cold running water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch for a cleaner, fluffier result.

2

Combine

Add rinsed Adlai to a pot with 2–2.5 cups of water. Use less water for a firmer, rice-like bite, and more for a creamier, risotto-style texture.

3

Simmer

Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to low. Cover and let it simmer for 20–30 minutes until the water is fully absorbed. Don't lift the lid too early.

4

Fluff and Serve:

Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve. Adlai holds its shape beautifully which is great hot or at room temperature.

Rice Cooker

5

Rinse

Rinse 1 cup of Adlai under cold water until clear.

6

Add to Cooker

Add Adlai and 2–2.5 cups of water to your rice cooker. Same ratio as regular rice — you can't really go wrong.

7

Cook and Serve

Run the white rice cycle. Once it switches to warm, let it sit for 5 minutes before opening. Fluff with a fork and serve.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What does adlai taste like?

Adlai has a naturally creamy, nutty flavor and a tender, pearl-like bite. Many describe it as“the richness of risotto with the comfort of rice.”

Is adlai gluten-free?

Yes. Adlai is naturally gluten-free and suitable for gluten-sensitive diets. Our grain is tested and handled in facilities that follow strict allergen-safety practices, and our packing facility is dedicated solely to adlai. This helps prevent cross-contact with gluten-containing grains.

Is adlai good for people watching their blood sugar?

Adlai is naturally low on the glycemic index and digests more slowly than white rice, supporting steadier energy.
(For personal health conditions, please consult your healthcare provider.)

How do I cook Adlai Pearl?

It cooks just like rice.

  • Stovetop: 1 cup Adlai → 2–3 cups water. Simmer 20–30 minutes.
  • Rice cooker: Use a 2–3:1 water-to-grain ratio.

After cooking, you can let the adlai cool to room temperature or even store it in the fridge. This gives the adlai a firmer texture suitable for stir fries and grain bowls.

Where is Adlai Pearl grown?

Our adlai is grown by small farming communities in the Bukidnon and Arakan highlands of the Philippines using traditional, non-chemical methods.

Each harvest is small-batch milled, cleaned, and packed to preserve freshness.

Where is Adlai Pearl grownIs your adlai tested for safety?

Yes. Every batch is third-party tested for:

  • Heavy metals
  • Pesticide residues

Our lab results show that Adlai Pearl meets strict safety standards for clean, chemical-free grain.

How long does adlai last?

Unopened Adlai Pearl stays fresh for 12–18 months.

Keep sealed and store in a cool, dry place.

Cooked adlai lasts 3–4 days in the refrigerator and up to 1 month in the freezer for best quality. Store it in an airtight container and cool it within an hour after cooking to keep it safe and fresh.

The grains will retain their flavor and become slightly firmer, with a texture closer to couscous, less like rice.
